Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are keeping a close eye on Rushall Olympic forward Alex Reid, according to the Walsall Advertiser.
The 20-year-old is currently the top goal scorer in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, England’s seventh-tier, having hit the back of the net on 13 occasions from 15 appearances for The Pics this season.
Wednesday scouts were in the crowd for Rushall Olympic’s midweek game against Warrington Town, which ended 2-2, to watch Reid, who scored the opening goal for his team.
The Owls currently sit sixth in the Championship with fifteen goals to their tally, just two more than Alex Reid, and the second-lowest in the top eleven of the second-tier – only Reading have a fewer amount of goals.
Despite the interest for the young striker from Sheffield Wednesday, reports have also suggested National League outfit Tranmere Rovers were also at the same game scouting Reid – so the Yorkshire club face stiff competition if they’re keen to sign the former Aston Villa junior footballer in January.
