Sky Bet Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday have taken Tottenham Hotspur youngster Charlie Hayford on a trial basis, according to HITC.
It was confirmed that the young midfielder has been taken on a trial basis at the South Yorkshire club as he featured in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Beginning as a winger, Hayford switched to a more central position after his move to Tottenham Hotspur, however, this shows his versatility as he can play both centrally and out wide.
After having a stalling career at Spurs littered by injuries which have slowed his development, he is out of contract in the summer and looking unlikely to have it renewed with the club.
With Spurs’ blessing, Hayford has begun his search for his next permanent club with Sheffield Wednesday, a team clearly on the up being a good place to start.
Hayford will be hoping he can impress Carvalhal during the trial and prove that he has the ability to challenge to break through into the first team and become a regular first player.
