Sheffield Wednesday are keen on Stokes

The Irish international has fallen way down the pecking order at Celtic Park and is said to be keen on a move away from the Scottish giants.

The Bhoys talisman has struggled to force his way into the team under Celtic boss Ronny Deila, who is set to listen to offers to offload the want-away striker.

Wednesday are reportedly at the front of the queue to sign the player with new Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal desperate to bolster his attacking arsenal.

A move could be made this week in an attempt to take the striker to Hillsborough ahead of the season curtain raiser which takes place next Saturday.

Stokes would offer Wednesday some great experience having played for the likes Sunderland and Sheffield United, both in the Championship.

It would remain to be seen however whether he would score the level of goals the Owls would require to make them a force in the Championship.
