Sheffield Wednesday take on Blackburn Rovers this weekend as the race for the play-offs continues.

The Owls are now genuine contenders you'd have thought, but have plenty of company in the battle for a top six spot.

That in mind, then, we spoke to Louis Shackshaft as per usual to talk all things Owls ahead of this one...

1. 4 points off the playoffs, has the outside chance now become a real possibility?

We have nine games remaining, by my reckoning we would need seven wins to ensure a playoff spot, it’s a possibility but still unlikely. I suppose as a fan I can hope for the best but prepare for the instance that we will probably finish four to six points short. It’s nice knowing we are in the mix though, for sure. Let’s take it game by game.

2. Lucas Joao could be out for the rest of the season, who can we look at to step-up - Sam Winnall perhaps alongside Steven Fletcher?

Winnall is the obvious choice despite him missing most of the season through injury, game time will be key for him so I expect him to step in. With Forestieri injured, Hooper still regaining fitness and Nuhiu a poor man's Steven Fletcher, we may continue to use Winnall as an impact sub and stick to one man up top. It seems to be working well for us at present.

3. A few Wednesday players are off on international duty after this weekend - is there concern they might pick up knocks - particularly outfield players?

It’s always a concern, however, there is not a lot we can do about that. Most clubs in this division have international players to some extent, all we can do is just hope and pray each player returns without any issues during this key stage of the campaign.

4. Blackburn seem one side with little to play for - have the Owls got to guard against complacency?

Blackburn have proven already this season that they can compete against the teams in the top half of the division and I don’t think they will have ruled out a playoff push themselves, just yet. Anything can happen in this league and for that reason this game is vital for both sides. I can guarantee the Owls won’t be complacent though, Bruce will ensure that.

5. Score prediction

This will be a tough game. Blackburn have got some talented individuals and for me have been one of the surprise packages this season. It’s a difficult one to call but my heart is telling me Wednesday can continue on this tremendous run of form, 2-1 to the Owls.
