Sheffield Wednesday are still looking to bring in another forward between now and the end of the summer transfer window, in a bid to bolster Darren Moore's attacking options ahead of a long League One campaign.

Yesterday, Wednesday confirmed that Josh Windass had agreed terms on a new two-year deal at Hillsborough, whilst they also have Callum Paterson still on the books.

Lee Gregory, Theo Corbeanu, Florian Kamberi and, most recent signing, Sylla Sow are all other fresh faces added to the Wednesday attack in recent weeks. However, Moore appears to want more.

Yorkshire Live report how Moore is still keen to add another attacking option to his squad in the form of a striker.

It's claimed that there are links to Ellis Harrison at Portsmouth. The 27-year-old scored four goals in 25 appearances in League One last season for Pompey, having scored five in the previous campaign.

Harrison has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Fratton Park and hasn't featured in 2021/22 yet for Danny Cowley.

Sheffield Wednesday began their League One campaign with a goalless draw with Charlton Athletic on Saturday evening.  Moore's side managed the only shot on target in the game, with both sides lacking in the final third.

That was Wednesday's second successive 0-0 draw at the start of the 2021/22 campaign, having played out the same scoreline with Huddersfield Town in the League Cup before losing on penalties.

The Verdict

Wednesday have done well to add to Windass and Paterson this summer with some solid attacking options. However, they have started poorly this season in the final third and you can understand why they maybe want more.

Over the course of the season, Moore either needs one player to step up and score 20 goals, or his entire strikeforce to chip in.

Windass is their best chance of 20+ goals, but he's out until October, so it's tough to see him hitting that number.

With that in mind, another body to share the burden is no bad thing. Harrison - if it is to be him - has chipped in consistently for Portsmouth over the last two seasons.
