Sheffield Wednesday and Mallik Wilks have been linked with a transfer agreement throughout the summer transfer window and it appears a deal could still happen according to The Star.

The Owls played their football in League One last time around and after struggling to seal a promotion back up to the Championship, the club's boss Darren Moore is now eyeing some more forward recruits.

One of the names most heavily rumoured for a switch is Wilks - and whilst Hull have been holding out for more money it seems, this latest report suggests the player himself wants to seal a move to Hillsborough.

The Hull player struggled to get going in the Championship with the Tigers last season and in 17 starts, he produced just the three goals and the one assist. However, in the third tier, his tally was superb.

Playing for the Tigers in League One, he played as a regular feature in the Hull first-team and managed a total of 19 goals and eight assists. Wilks averaged 0.66 goals or assists then per 90 and if the club can get that kind of form out of him again, then it could help the Owls to finally seal that promotion.

Having managed a haul of 14 goals for Doncaster in the third tier in the past too, there is every chance he could produce similar again if the player bags more gametime in League One.

Even though Hull have not agreed to a move yet, it seems as though the player does want to exit the KCOM Stadium - and if Wednesday and the Tigers can come to agreement, a deal looks like it may still happen for the Owls.

The Verdict

Mallik Wilks and Sheffield Wednesday could be a good match if they can do some kind of transfer agreement this summer transfer window.

In the Championship, the forward hasn't been able to play as much and has subsequently not managed to bag as many goals as usual. In the division lower though, the 23-year-old can and has produced the goods in the past and the Owls could give him the chance again.

Considering the player's record in the third tier, there is every chance that he could do the same. He pretty much guarantees goals in League One if you can get him firing and use him in the right way and he would no doubt make Sheffield Wednesday promotion contenders.

If club boss Darren Moore wants a proven striker to fire them to glory, Wilks could be that man - and the player himself seemingly wants the transfer move to happen this window.
