Sheffield Wednesday are looking to accelerate plans for the upcoming season and a return to League One.

Darren Moore couldn't keep the Owls in the Championship despite his best efforts last season and the club are now preparing for a huge 2021/22.

The task will be to deliver promotion at the first time of asking, but that's easier said than done, with League One looking a more and more difficult level to compete at.

A positive summer on the transfer front will aid Wednesday on that front, with speculation starting to intensify now.

We run you through the latest headlines here:

Josh Windass

Millwall have made their move in the race to sign Windass, with the London club reportedly tabling a £400k bid for the forward, which has been swiftly rejected.

Yorkshire Live claim that Wednesday want to retain Windass, who scored nine goals last season in the Championship. Moore hopes he can spearhead the Owls' push for promotion.

However, Millwall have not given up hope of signing the 27-year-old and are reportedly readying another bid to lure him out of Hillsborough.

Charles Hagan

Hagan is already on the books at Hillsborough, but his contract was set to expire this summer.

However, as per a report from Sheffield Star, a deal in principle has been struck to keep the 19-year-old at the club ahead of 2021/22.

That's a significant win for the Owls, as the teenager had been attracting interest from the likes of Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

Matthew Olosunde

Olosunde is a free agent after leaving Rotherham United.

And, the right-back is on the Wednesday radar this summer, as per the Sheffield Star.

The 23-year-old featured on 32 occasions in the Championship for Rotherham last season, registering three assists from full-back.

He previously produced similar numbers to that in League One when the Millers won promotion in 2019/20.
