Sky Bet Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday have taken striker James Alabi on trial reports HITC.
The 20-year-old forward is currently under trial with the Owls after his release from Premier League Stoke City.
The youngster, who played for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-21 side yesterday against Aston Villa under 21’s, will be hoping he can prove he is good enough to new manager Carlos Carvalhal.
Alabi, known for being a strong and mobile forward, was at Stoke from 2010 from where he also spent time out on loan at clubs such as Accrington Stanley, Forest Green and Mansfield Town – and after these somewhat unsuccessful loan spells, the Potters released him.
Despite these poor loan spells, Alabi was highly regarded in the Stoke City youth set up. If he were to impress the Sheffield Wednesday coaches and sign a deal, then there may be a chance he could flourish after gaining some confidence through a successful loan spell.
The Owls have secured a number of deals this summer, as the new club owner at Hillsborough targets Premier League football for the club next season.
Sheffield Wednesday fans… Would you be happy if you signed Alabi? Do you think it is a strange move? Could he be one for the future? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
