Sheffield Wednesday could be set to demand around £7m for striker Jordan Rhodes, scuppering any hopes of a permanent move to Norwich as it stands.

The Scotland striker spent last season on loan at Carrow Road, and fired in nine goals across all competitions to help Daniel Farke's men to promotion back to the Premier League.

However, according to Alan Nixon, any hopes the Canaries had of signing Rhodes on a permanent deal could be in jeopardy, with the Owls set to demand up to £7m for the striker, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

Rhodess has struggled for both form and fitness since making a mega-money move to Hillsborough a few seasons ago, and he will have seen his time with Norwich as the ideal spell for him to get his career back on track somewhat.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke is thought to want to keep the bulk of the squad together which won him promotion, and he was hoping to bring Rhodes back to the club for next season.

The Owls' price tag however could well put Farke off, who will be keen to keep his budget and spending within certain limits as he plots a path to ensure the Canaries don't come straight back down into the Champioship.

The Verdict

You can see Wednesday's logic in wanting a return on the money they paid for Rhodes a few years back, but are they really going to get £7m for him? I don't think so.

Rhodes has done ok for Norwich, but there are better out there if they want to look far enough and I can't help but think this might price them out of a move for Rhodes on a permanent basis.
