Sheffield Wednesday will assess the extent of Barry Bannan's hip injury tomorrow morning when the Owls' squad returns to training after their weekend win over Coventry City.

The Owls have had a tough campaign so far and remain in the relegation zone, though their win over the Sky Blues has finally lifted them off of bottom spot - albeit only on goal difference.

It was an important win over Mark Robins' side, then, but it came at a bit of a cost with midfielder Bannan having to come off with a hip injury during the game.

Indeed, as per Yorkshire Live, the Owls are now going to have to assess the extent of the knock to the Scotsman and will do so tomorrow morning as the players report for training ahead of their game with Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day.

The Verdict

The wait is on to see how Bannan is, then, and Owls fans will be hoping that the news is not too serious for their creative midfielder.

Injuries have been a regular theme this season for many sides up and down the country and they often increase around this time of year anyway, let alone in a congested season like this.

Time will tell, then, as to whether Bannan can make the Blackburn game.
