Sheffield Wednesday have started this season in good shape and will be looking to get themselves into positive territory points-wise very soon indeed.

Their form so far this year has seen them earn eight points so far and that would have them up near the play-offs in a normal season.

They are, of course, still bottom however but that might not be the case for much longer with the progress they are making.

Away from that, we're also potentially nearing a decision from the club over trialist Okera Simmonds, who has been with the club recently looking to earn a contract with the Owls.

Indeed, Dom Howson has written in a Q&A for Yorkshire Live on Monday night that a decision could be made as early as this week:

"I think the club will make a decision on trialist Okera Simmonds this week. Simmonds could play for the Under-23s tomorrow when they entertain Cardiff."

The Verdict

Sheffield Wednesday have really started this season well and some of the signings they have made have been deeply impressive, with them possessing a squad with surely enough quality to get out of their current predicament in fairly short order.

It remains to be seen what they do with Simmonds, meanwhile, with him potentially set to get one more chance to show what he can do for the U23 side against Cardiff City.
