Sheffield Wednesday are interested in Newcastle pair Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar, according to The Mirror.

Both players spent the second half of last season on loan at The Owls, and despite not having a permanent manager in place the club has enquired about loaning the duo once again.

It is the latest development of the bitter saga which saw Steve Bruce and his coaching staff depart for Newcastle, with the two clubs falling out over the compensation which Wednesday were due.

The Mirror report that Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri offered to end the legal dispute he has raised if Aarons and Lazaar joined the club, but The Magpies have rejected this proposal.

They instead claim they have paid in full the compensation owed and therefore are not threatened by any legal action.

It is possible that Chansiri is chasing these players as another form of compensation, as the club is without the permanent manager who would have identified the pair as useful additions.

The Verdict

The dispute between the two clubs doesn't appear to be ending soon and with legal bids set to begin it is very unlikely that the two will come to an agreement on anything and the hostility will likely continue.

As a result, it is highly unlikely that Chansiri will get his wish, as Newcastle would be unwilling to assist Sheffield Wednesday in any way, and therefore no players will join on loan.

Newcastle claim they have acted correctly throughout this situation and therefore Chansiri could also fail with his legal battle too.
