The 24-year-old’s contract expires this summer and it looks like he won’t be handed a new deal by the Owls.

Madine was loaned out to strugglers Blackpool in January and scored three times for the Tangerines.

He also had a loan spell at Coventry in League One in the first half of the year, finding the net four times at the Sky Blues.

Madine has had plenty of brushes with the law and has been convicted several times for assault, and he was only released from jail in February 2014 after an 18 month sentence for causing actual bodily harm and grevious bodily harm in two separate attacks.

Bolton boss Neil Lennon is hoping he can tame him and get him scoring, as he looks to plump up his strike force for next season.

His Bolton side finished 18th in the Sky Bet Championship, accumulating 51 points whilst Sheffield Wednesday finished 13th, amassing 60 points.
