Sheffield Wednesday will surely have been the happier of the two sides following last night’s goalless Steel City derby.

The Owls arguably had the better of the chances, but with Sheffield United pushing for a top-two finish, it is not a result that Bruce and co should look down on.

It keeps their hopes of a top-six finish alive and also extends their impressive form, now losing just once in their last ten matches.

But there was one event that will have soured the evening somewhat, with attacker Fernando Forestieri being withdrawn with an injury at half.

After the match, Bruce confirmed that he had suffered a hamstring injury, but could not put a timescale on his return.

Having scored just four goals all season the last thing Forestieri will have wanted is another spell on the sidelines.

So, what will he be thinking having suffered yet another lay-off?

As mentioned above, Forestieri’s season has been a bitterly disappointing one. He is a player who should easily be hitting ten goals per season.

So to have another injury lay-off ahead of him will be incredibly infuriating. He will know he has a lot to offer the team when he is at full fitness and not being able to influence proceedings will weigh heavily on him.

It is not the end of the world for Wednesday, who have played well without him this season, but for Forestieri it is an enormous blow.
