Joey Pelupessy joined the Owls in the January transfer window as Jos Luhukay's first signing.

The Dutch midfielder has played in eight league games so far this season. He's had to adjust to a switch from the Eredivisie which is a highly technical league to the Championship which does have teams capable of playing aesthetically pleasing football, but also has a substantial amount of physicality.

His time at the club has shown brief glimpses of promise with his goal against Millwall being the peak of that. However, the team has been a mess during his time at the club due to injuries and uncertainty plaguing their performances.

Here's what he had to say as quoted by the Yorkshire Post: "It is new to me that the manager is rotating because in Holland you have like 34 games. It is not too much like here. Most of the time if you might play 30 games.

"Here, it is every week a new team or maybe four or five changes. It’s new for me but I like it. It takes time for me but that’s no problem. I will keep going.

"I think it might be next season until we see the best of me.

"We have two months to go and I will use these nine games for my development to get into the team and to get to know everybody. Hopefully in a few weeks you will see more of me also and next season. I’m looking forward."

The Verdict

Pelupessy does bring control and ball-winning ability to a team that desperately needs it. However, there is a sense that he hasn't fully gelled with his teammates as of yet.

Luhukay's preference for constant rotation probably hasn't helped because it reduces the general chemistry of the team as well as the understanding between players.

The fact that Pelupessy has been relatively consistent is a good sign for the future, so hopefully he can build on this season in the long-term.
