Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes has called for the club to “look at the bigger picture” as pressure begins to mount at Hillsborough in the race for promotion, reports the Sheffield Telegraph.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side have won just once in their last six Sky Bet Championship fixtures, picking up just one point from the last available nine, leaving Wednesday’s Play-Off hopes hanging in the balance.

Wednesday remain sixth in the Championship table, but are just one-point clear of seventh-placed Fulham, who are edging closer to Carvalhal’s side.

Despite a disappointing run of results, Rhodes has urged supporters to remain positive, he said: “It is a shame these last three games haven’t gone as well as we would have hoped but, again, we have to look at the bigger picture.

“The last eight games are Cup finals and, hopefully, we can then get another three after that and give all the Sheffield Wednesday fans something to cheer. Let’s not panic, for the time being. And let’s look at the bigger picture.”

Since arriving at Hillsborough during the January transfer window, Rhodes has struggled, scoring just three goals, the last of those coming in the 5-1 victory over Norwich City earlier this month.

The 27-year old will be hopeful he can help Wednesday return to winning ways this weekend, and get their promotion push back on track, when they face Barnsley in a South Yorkshire Derby.
