Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has dropped a big hint that he intends to remain at Hillsborough for the foreseeable future, report the club's official Twitter account.

Bannan racked up his 150th appearance for the Owls during their Tuesday night 0-0 draw with Millwall and said during the club's pre-match press conference on Friday that he hoped there were more to come.

Speaking on reaching the milestone, the 29-year-old said: "I’ve really enjoyed my football here and hopefully there are many more appearances to come."

He made the move to Wednesday from Crystal Palace back in 2015 on a free transfer and has gone on to become one of the club's most important players.

In those 150 appearances, he has scored seven goals and assisted 18, including two goals and four assists during the current campaign.

Steve Bruce's side sit in 16th place with 31 matches played in what has been a disappointing season.

But having lost just once in their last ten matches, the future is certainly looking significantly brighter.

The verdict

This will be music to Owls' fans ears.

There are plenty of players within their current squad who need to be shipped out but Bannan would be one of the last names on that list.

So to hear that he hopes to pick up many more appearances for the club will be a big boost for both the fans and Bruce.
