Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has been giving fans a pre-season update, tweeting pictures of himself enjoying the warm summer sunshine.

The 33-year-old keeper put a tweet out showing him working hard this morning, adding that it had been a "good 2 weeks of pre-season so far. Working hard, feeling great." - That will be music to the ears of Wednesday fans who saw him miss a majority of last season through injury.

The former Manchester City man is about to embark on his fifth season as custodian at Sheffield Wednesday, having been between the sticks for their two play-off assaults in recent seasons.

He played just 18 times last season, however, before a groin problem ruled him out for the bulk of the season.

He's now back in training and recently tweeted his delighted at getting the gloves on once again. He was just one of several first-team regulars injured at Wednesday last season, although in March he earned a bizarre call up to the Republic of Ireland squad despite being ruled out.

The Verdict

Westwood will be like a new singing and seeing him back in training will doubtless delight fans.

They had a tough time last season with key players being injured and they'll be hoping that Westwood and his team mates stay clear of fitness worries this season, so they can get back to the top-six and maybe a Premier League return.
