Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher is hoping the Owls' big game experience and mentality can see them through when Chris Wilder's Sheffield United visit S6 this weekend.

The Scottish international strike ace has been in good form for Wednesday this season and will be looking to bag against his side's local rivals when they meet in the early kick off at Hillsborough tomorrow.

In an interview for the Sheffield Star, the former Sunderland Burnley striker said it 'was a big occasion for the city and the two clubs', but added, 'there is a lot of experience in this team', something he hopes will be a key factor when the steel city collides tomorrow.

'That experience can help because the lads know how to handle the atmosphere and the occasion. There are a few young lads in the team as well but the older heads will keep us all grounded.” said Fletcher.

Wednesday have gotten off to an inconsistent start in the Championship this season but have found form of late with players returning from injury. Their rivals United currently occupy a top six spot after getting off to a superb start under Chris Wilder.

The Verdict

The game on Sunday will be a tight affair no doubt at Hillsborough, but it could well be that the quality of Fletcher and the Owls strikers will be the difference. Regardless, it will be an intriguing affair for viewers who have no doubt missed the Sheffield derby being part of the fixture list.
