Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has said that he is excited to return to Villa Park but he is worried that he might receive boos from Aston Villa fans, according to The Sheffield Star.

Barry Bannan came through the academy system at Aston Villa and had five years there as a professional player before his switch to Crystal Palace.

The Scotland international has admitted that he is an avid follower of Aston Villa and would be disappointed if he was booed by the home fans at Villa Park.

Bannan said:

“I think a lot of the fans who boo me on Saturday won’t realise that I actually support Aston Villa because I had been there since I was 13 to 23 probably.

"They are one of the my English teams, to be honest and hopefully they will take it easy on me."

On Sheffield Wednesday's chances of getting a win, Bannan was keen to urge his side not to underestimate Villa and said:

“I am looking forward to it - they have won three games recently and will be confident.

“I know they lost at Huddersfield, but that is a tough place."

Sheffield Wednesday fans - will Bannan get booed? Can he inspire you to victory?

Aston Villa fans - will you boo Bannan or show him some respect?
