Taking part in a Q&A for the Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday correspondent Nancy Frostick has suggested that Jordan Rhodes might well not have long left in terms of his career at Hillsborough.

The Owls have had a strange season and once again look set for a mid-table finish in the Sky Bet Championship.

They started the campaign well and were looking like play-off contenders at one point but form in recent weeks has been very patchy and realistically a top six challenge is off the cards if the season is resumed.

Garry Monk, then, may well be looking at ways to shake his squad up in the summer and Frostick has suggested that Rhodes could be one man that has little time left at the club.

She was discussing with fans some of the worst signings the club had made under Dejphon Chansiri and had this to say about Rhodes, alongside Almen Abdi:

"It's a shame it never worked out for Abdi (and doesn't look like it will for Rhodes) given the potential they showed before signing."

The Verdict

Rhodes has a top record in the Sky Bet Championship but that is largely thanks to his form earlier on in his career.

Joining Wednesday, fans hoped that he'd find his best form but he's only shown it in flashes and perhaps another move could well be on the cards.

He's still got time to rekindle that devastating form that made him the second tier's most feared forward, it just remains to be seen where, and if, he can do it.
