Sheffield Wednesday will demand a £3m loan fee for Jordan Rhodes, according to The Yorkshire Post.

The Owls are desperately trying to shift Rhodes this summer to fund moves for new players but there only appears to be loan interest so far.

Norwich City are interested in the Scotland international as they look to bolster their striker options but it remains to be seen whether they will want to splash a hefty loan fee for his temporary services.

Sheffield Wednesday want to receive £3m if Rhodes heads out on loan so they can start bringing in their own players.

The 28-year-old had a poor season at Hillsborough, only managing three goals in 20 games.

But he has previously proven his goal scoring ability at Championship level, hitting figures of 29, 25, 21 and 16 from the 2012/13 season until the 2015/16 season with Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.

Norwich are hoping that the former Ipswich Town academy product returns to his best form if he does join the Canaries but Wednesday are holding out for a major fee.

The Verdict

Rhodes needs to move away from Sheffield Wednesday for the sake of his career but the club are not making it easy for him.

I understand that they need money to strengthen their squad but £3m is a major loan fee for Norwich to shell for just one year.

If the Owls want to keep him, then the loan fee is fair to fend off suitors but they seem to want him out for as much money as possible to kick-start their summer spending.
