Sheffield Wednesday are beginning to pick up in the Championship after a miserable start, winning their last two to put them in a decent position as we headed into the international break.

The Owls appear to have eased the pressure on manager Carlos Carvalhal, and the Portuguese coach must be relieved to still be in his job after weeks of growing concerns around his tactics and team selections.

Wednesday though will no doubt be there or there abouts when it comes to the end of the season, with their squad possessing plenty of quality and enough in the key areas to ensure they pick up enough points to mount a promotion push.

However, one place they could do with adding some more direct pace and aggression is up front, and we think that Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe could be the ideal sort of signing at Hillsborough in January.

The former Wolves striker made a big money move to Dean Court a few seasons back and has been impressive enough in the main, but appears to be finding his chances limited now under Eddie Howe.

He is a player with bags of pace and a keen eye for goal, and crucially, is a proven commodity in the Championship.

Wednesday have already got top talent up top in the likes of Gary Hooper, Jordan Rhodes, and Steven Fletcher, but the chance to add someone with speed like Afobe could well make all the difference to the club as they look to finally get back to the Premier League after nearly two decades away.

Owls fans, what do you think? Would Afobe be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
