Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are plotting a move for Norwich City goalkeeper Jake Kean, according to well-respected journalist Alan Nixon.
Owls manager Carlos Carvalhal has been in the market for a back-up goalkeeper to provide Sheffield Wednesday with strength and depth in the goalkeeping position.
Although Kieran Westwood is by far one of the best goalkeepers in the division, Carvalhal clearly wants to provide Westwood with strong competition for the number one jersey.
One name that has now emerged as a position target for the Owls is from Norwich City, who are now Sheffield Wednesday’s rivals following their relegation from the Premier League in May.
Kean, who joined Norwich City in the summer of 2015, has had limited opportunities due to the performances of John Ruddy, and Kean may opt to leave Carrow Road this summer.
Although Sheffield Wednesday can’t guarantee regular first team football for Kean, there is a higher probability that Kean will get more game time at Sheffield Wednesday than if he stayed at Norwich.
