Sheffield Wednesday could be set to lose striker George Hirst to Everton this summer, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo.

The young striker has yet to sign a new deal with the Owls after a season of personal frustration saw him outcast from the squad under former manager Carlos Carvalhal and then see first team opportunities similarly limited under Jos Luhukay.

And now it would appear that there are Premier League giants waiting in the wings to snap up the teenager, who has been in impressive goalscoring form for Wednesday's second teams as well as being a regular at international level for the under-20's.

Hirst is highly thought of at Hillsborough but his relationship with the club is thought to be at breaking point due to the lack of contract negotiations and seemingly, first team action that Hirst has seen.

Everton and their under-23 manager David Unsworth are keen on adding further talent to what is an ever growing pool of players in the Toffees youth set up. Unsworth has already watched Hirst on numerous occasions, and is expected to make his move for the youngster over the summer.

Owls fans, what do you think? Should you go all out to keep Hirst? Let us know in the comments!
