Sheffield Wednesday set sights on signing forward

Sheffield Wednesday are rumoured to be interested in signing Ross County forward Ross Stewart according to the Daily Record.

It is also claimed that MK Dons, Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood Town are also keen on signing the forward, who has caught the eye with some impressive showings recently.

The Daily Record report that MK Dons have made an offer of £300,000 for Stewart, which could tempt the Scottish side to cash-in on Stewart.

The 24-year-old scored 11 goals in 26 appearances for the club last season, and it appears as though his impressive performances in front of goal haven’t gone unnoticed.

A move to Sheffield Wednesday will surely tempt the forward though, with the Owls playing their football in the Championship once again this season.

Garry Monk’s side are currently sat bottom of the second-tier standings, after being handed a 12 point deduction for off-the-field problems, but have picked up four points in their opening three league matches.

But it remains to be seen as to how strong the Owls’ interest is in Stewart, with MK Dons making the first move in trying to land his signature before the summer transfer window reaches a conclusion.

Sheffield Wednesday return to action this weekend, when the take on QPR, in what is likely to be a tricky test for Garry Monk’s men at Hillsborough.

Has Liam Palmer ever been loaned out?

The Verdict:

He could be worth a punt for Sheffield Wednesday.

Garry Monk only has Jordan Rhodes as his recognised senior striker in the Owls first-team, so I’m not surprised to see the club targeting another striker to add much-needed depth to their attacking options.

Stewart had a strong season with Ross County last term, and I think he could be a solid option to have available to Garry Monk in the Championship this season.

It could prove to be a shrewd signing for the Owls, but they need to act swiftly in signing him, as MK Dons are clearly keen on getting a deal completed in the near future.
