Sheffield Wednesday head to the Midlands this week to take on Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship.

It's a hugely important fixture for the Owls, who under the interim watch of Neil Thompson sit 23rd in the Championship table and still heavily flirting with relegation.

However, there could be some positive injury news coming Wednesday's way ahead of their trip to face Coventry tomorrow.

As per Dom Howson on his Q&A with Yorkshire Live, Keiren Westwood might be fit enough to return in goal, whilst Joost van Aken could also come back into contention to offer another defensive option.

Westwood is yet to feature in 2021, with the goalkeeper's minutes restricted throughout a funny season where he's been frozen out and then brought back into the picture.

As for van Aken, his last appearance came on Boxing Day.

Bannan? Reach? – Can you name which Sheffield Wednesday player scored each these 15 goals this season?

Whilst Wednesday are 23rd and five points adrift of safety, they do have two games in hand on Derby County, who currently occupy the spot narrowly outside the Championship relegation zone.

Slightly better off at this stage are Coventry, who sit six points clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

This would be a tidy little boost for Wednesday and Thompson.

There's a good chance of Wednesday pulling themselves out of trouble in the Championship, but games like this are the ones they need to win.

Coventry could well be pulled within striking distance in the coming weeks, but three points tomorrow is important.

The return of Westwood and van Aken adds depth to the Wednesday side and gives them a higher chance of a win.
