Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri could still leave the club before the end of the loan window, The Yorkshire Post reports.

Although clubs cannot permanently buy players now that the domestic window has shut, Football League sides are still able to snap players up on loan and even arrange loan-to-buy agreements.

Forestieri is a player who could be the subject of major interest towards the end of this month.

The 28-year-old returned from injury last season to score five goals in eight matches and he has continued his form into this season, netting twice in three games.

However, the Owls are yet to pick up their first league win and have managed to earn just one point in their opening three league games.

Forestieri features heavily in Jos Luhukay's plans but that will not stop him attracting interest from elsewhere, especially if he is in goal scoring form.

The Verdict

Forestieri knows where the net is at this level and losing him would be a major blow for the Owls.

After their poor start to the season, they need to ensure they finish the loan window strongly, keeping their star players and signing a few others.

Losing their talented Italian forward would deflate the fans and the team and it could be a season of struggle ahead.
