Norwich are determined to get a deal done for Jordan Rhodes before the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail.

It is reported that they are willing to stump up a fee in the region of £4m for the striker, which is what Sheffield Wednesday are looking for.

Such a fee could deter the reported interest from Swansea, Birmingham and Bristol City, who could be unwilling to spend that much on a 29-year-old.

Daniel Farke, however, remains keen on the Sheffield Wednesday man. He proved a great foil for Teemu Pukki last term and chipped in with six Championship goals of his own, some of which were vital for their promotion.

Norwich could try and negotiate the Owls to a lower fee considering Rhodes is entering the final year of his contract, but with the window closing on Thursday any talks would have to suit Wednesday in order to progress quickly.

The Verdict

This is a difficult signing to work out, as although Rhodes fit into Farke's system well last season and he got the best out of Pukki, there is some doubt over whether he'd be able to replicate that in the Premier League.

£4m is cheap in comparison to most Premier League signings, but for Sheffield Wednesday it is a very good deal for a player approaching 30 and the expiry of his contract.

Along with the money they look likely to receive for Lucas Joao, The Owls could use the £4m to re-invest in another striker who would perhaps be more suited to the rest of the squad, or a player who actually wants to be at the club.
