Sheffield Wednesday have sent their scouting team to Portugal, according to A Bola via Sport Witness.
The Owls manager Carlos Carvalhal has reportedly shown an interest in players from his homeland, and it is believed he instructed his team to attend the game between Porto and Belenenses this weekend.
Wednesday are currently firmly in the hunt for promotion and Carvalhal will be looking to further improve his team, either in the current loan window or during the summer, regardless of what division they are in.
The manager and new owners down at Hillsborough seem determined to bring success back to Sheffield, and have already explored the Portuguese market with the signings of Lucas Joao and Marco Mathias in the summer.
Porto have a long history of producing excellent players who they then sell on for large profit, with Gianelli Imbula the latest player to move for big money, following the likes of Jackson Martinez, Deco, and Ricardo Carvalho in the past.
Wednesday fans will no doubt be encouraged to see their club actively exploring the European market, and it will be another encouraging sign that the club is on the up long term.
Wednesday fans, what do you think to this news? Pleased? Who would you like to see your club sign in the summer? Let us know in the comments!
