After a season very much of two halves, you feel Sheffield Wednesday's have certainly earned the downtime they will now be enjoying following the end of the football season.

Having briefly flirted with relegation during the early part of the season under Jos Luhukay, the Dutchman's departure and the subsequent arrival of Steve Bruce saw the club climb up the table, and even emerged as late outsiders for a top six spot towards the end of the campaign.

Although their start to the year meant there was ultimately too much for Wednesday to do, the way they finished means there is renewed hope that a full season under Bruce could see them push for a return to the top tier.

Wednesday fans will, therefore, be hoping that their side are well rested ahead of what could be a big season for the club when they return to action in August.

Here, we take a look at what some of their players have been posting on social media about the way they have been spending their summer so far.

Barry Bannan

Like many footballers, it seems that Bannan's other sport of choice is golf, with the midfielder taking to Twitter last week to simply post a picture from a golf course, with a fairly self-explanatory caption.

With Bannan missing out on Scotland's squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, Wednesday fans will be hoping their key man will be even fresher than ever when he returns for pre-season and the campaign beyond.

Dominic Iorfa

While Bannan has been enjoying the golf course, teammate Dominic Iorfa has been enjoying some rather different surroundings.

Little more than a week after the end of the season, the defender took to Instagram to post a picture of him taking a break part way through a shopping trip at Dubai Mall, a rather more luxurious, albeit expensive, destination.

Joe Wildsmith

Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith meanwhile, has taken advantage of the break in action to head to Italy, with the 23-year-old taking to Instagram to post a picture of him and his girlfriend on a balcony overlooking the picturesque capital city of Rome.

Jordan Thorniley

Defender Jordan Thorniley is one Wednesday man who is certainly making the most of his time off. Having already spent time in Bournemouth, as shown by his Instagram post, the defender then took to the site again to reveal he and his other half are set for a trip to the Greek Island of Mykonos in the next few days.

Fernando Forestieri

The Argentinean born attacker is another one who has been keeping fans up to date during the summer.

Forestieri has posted pictures of him is his home country, where he has been enjoying some time away with both his family and partner, whose birthday Forestieri later posted a picture of the pair celebrating her birthday on the balcony of an Argentinean hotel.
