Sheffield Wednesday have registered their interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott according to the Evening Standard.

Parrott has struggling for consistent game time with Spurs this season, and has made two appearances for the senior side so far.

The report from the Evening Standard also claims that both QPR and Charlton Athletic are interested in a loan deal for the young striker, who will be eager to prove himself out on loan this term.

A move to Sheffield Wednesday could be a tempting proposition for Parrott as well, with Garry Monk's side currently sat 11th in the Championship table and challenging for promotion into the Premier League.

The Owls were hit with a frustrating injury blow earlier this season, with Steven Fletcher being ruled out of action with a knee injury.

Fletcher has been hugely impressive in this year's league campaign, and has 12 goals to his name in his 24 appearances to date.

With the deadline for transfers to be made set on Friday 31st January, it seems as though Sheffield Wednesday can't afford to waste any time in attempting to force through a deal for Parrott, and it could be a deal that goes right down to the wire.

The Verdict:

This could be a smart bit of business by the Owls if they can get this deal over the line.

Garry Monk's side definitely need to sign a striker before the January transfer window reaches a conclusion, with Steven Fletcher ruled out for the foreseeable future with a knee injury.

Parrott is young player that would be considered somewhat of a risk given his lack of game time in senior football, but he'll be keen to showcase his talent away from Spurs this season.

If he can hit the ground running with Sheffield Wednesday, then he could prove to be a key player for the Owls in their promotion bid in the Championship.
