Sheffield Wednesday fans can be satisfied with their start 2016/17 Championship campaign, after coming agonisingly close to promotion via the play-offs last term.

Carlos Carvalhal's men sit 8th in the table after 15 games, with 7 wins, 3 draws, and 5 defeats, and find themselves level on points with 6th placed Bristol City, only to find themselves outside of the play-off spots on goal difference.

The likes of talisman Fernando Forestieri haven't really found the form that they displayed last term, netting just 3 times thus far this campaign.

The addition of Middlesbrough winger Adam Reach in the summer installed new life into the Wednesday squad, and his flair on the left flank has been instrumental for the Owls, as well as Ross Wallace, on the opposite wing.

But Carvalhal cannot rely on them two to bring positive energy to the Wednesday attack, and here FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO wingers that Sheffield Wednesday really should look to sign in the January transfer window...

Garath McCleary

The Jamaican international has endured a fine spell at Jaap Stam's Reading, making 136 appearances for the Royals since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2012.

The 29- year-old is capable of delivering a killer cross, and constantly terrorises opposition full-backs with his blistering pace, something that is clearly missing in the Wednesday squad in present times.

And with vast Premier League experience under his belt, McCleary would be the perfect acquisition for the Owls.

Rolando Aarons

The Newcastle United winger is perhaps one of the hottest young prospects in English football at the moment, however isn't really getting a look-in at St. James' Park.

The 20-year old has made just 18 appearances for the Magpies, ever since graduating from the youth academy in 2014.

Even if it were a loan deal, Aarons would truly benefit from a move away from Tyneside having made just 4 appearances this term, however a massive club like Wednesday could really lure him to Carvalhal's men.
