Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly keen on bring in Kilmarnock centre-back Stuart Findlay, according to the Scottish Sun

Steve Bruce was apparently watching the club's 1-0 win against Hibernian last weekend, a win that helped them seal third place in the Scottish Premier League.

Findlay made the move to Kilmarnock from Newcastle United last summer and he still has 12 months remaining on his current deal at Rugby Park.

The 23-year-old was a crucial member of Steve Clarke's impressive side this season, making 27 league appearances and earning himself a call-up to the Scottish national side for their opening Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Wednesday will be looking to strengthen their side ahead of the 2019/20 season after an impressive finish to the campaign just gone.

Bruce and his team arrived in January with the Owls edging closer and closer to the relegation zone but guided them clear of the drop and to the cusp of the play-offs.

The verdict

This looks like a smart signing from Bruce.

The Owls have a huge squad so trimming that back must be the priority heading into the new campaign but they cannot forget to strengthen as well.

Defensive additions are a must with the future of Michael Hector still up in the air and Findlay would go some way to easing those worries.
