Sheffield Wednesday are expected to complete the double signing of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Lewis Wing.

It's no secret that Darren Moore is desperate to strengthen his squad but the off-field issues that have hindered the club for some time means he is still operating under an embargo.

Therefore, free agents and loans are the only business Wednesday can do, with Yorkshire Live revealing that temporary deals for both players are expected to be finalised.

Peacock-Farrell is expected to leave Burnley on loan in order to get regular game time, whilst it's a similar story for Middlesbrough's Wing, who spent the previous campaign with Rotherham in the Championship.

The major stumbling block for both potential deals is that there is expected to be interest from second tier clubs, but the duo have agreed to make the switch to Hillsborough and they should be part of the squad ahead of the new season.

Moore's men begin their campaign with a tough trip to fellow promotion hopefuls Charlton at The Valley on August 7.

The verdict

If Wednesday could finalise deals for Peacock-Farrell and Wing it would be excellent business as they both have the ability to be standout players in League One.

Bringing in a keeper is a priority for Moore, and the reality is that the Northern Irish international is a step up on what they have. Meanwhile, Wing would add quality on the ball in the middle of the park.

So, fans should be very excited that these deals appear to be very close.
