It's set to be a summer of change for Sheffield Wednesday and it seems that they're wasting no time in identifying potential targets.

According to Football Insider, the Owls have set their sights on Doncaster Rovers star Madger Gomes.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for Darren Moore's side after making 22 appearances already for the League One side.

Gomes only arrived at the Keepmoat Stadium last summer but already appears to have made quite an impression, with Sheffield Wednesday said to have been impressed on several occasions when they've watched the player this term.

The midfielder might not be a household name, but he certainly has some big clubs on his CV.

Gomes spent three years with Liverpool's academy before being released in 2017, when he moved to Leeds United.

He made two senior appearances for the Whites before being sold by Marcelo Bielsa in the summer of 2018 when he joined French side Sochaux.

However after moving back to England last summer it appears that he could preparing for a move to another Yorkshire side if Sheffield Wednesday offer him another opportunity to impress in the Championship.

Do you know what year these Sheffield Wednesday players joined the club?

The verdict

Madger Gomes is clearly a player of real pedigree.

The midfielder is a real talent having developed with the likes of Liverpool and Leeds United, and while those moves didn't quite work, it shows the level of talent that the player has at his disposal.

Gomes has impressed for Doncaster Rovers this term and with Sheffield Wednesday taking a new approach to transfers in the summer it could be the case that a move for the 23-year-old is a shrewd addition.

He'll certainly have a point to prove in the Championship and with time very much on his side it'll be interesting to see just how far this lad can go.
