Jordan Rhodes is still hoping for a move to Norwich this summer, and Sheffield Wednesday are willing to sell provided they meet his asking price, according to The Pink Un.

It is believed the Canaries are still interested too, despite the recent signing of striker Josip Drmic from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Sheffield Wednesday are believed to want £7m for his services, and may be keen to get rid after a disappointing spell in South Yorkshire.

The Owls signed Rhodes permanently just two years ago for a fee of £10m, but he has since scored only 11 goals, and his prolific days in front of goal are certainly behind him.

Having spent the year on loan at Norwich he may have convinced them that he is good enough to play a role in the Premier League. He proved a useful partner to Teemu Pukki and contributed nine goals in 40 games as Norwich won the league.

Rhodes has one year remaining on his deal with Sheffield Wednesday, and it is thought the club wants to cash in now in order to recoup the money spent on him and to get him off the wage bill.

The Verdict

Rhodes' time at Hillsborough just hasn't gone according to plan and the days when he scored on a regular basis are in the past. £7m seems like quite a lot of money for a 29-year-old who scored just six league goals last season, not to mention he only has a year left on his contract.

As a result, Wednesday will either need to lower their asking price or bite the bullet and include him in first-team plans. Steve Bruce hasn't had the opportunity to work with him yet and he is the type of manager to restore some faith in the striker and give him another chance.
