Sheffield Wednesday and their players seem to have caught cricket fever from the ongoing World Cup and have dragged it into their changing room.
Portuguese striker Lucas Joao took to Instagram to show the dressing room antics, which shows players and coaches playing a bit of bat and ball.
On Lucas Joao’s Instagram story (@lucasjoao_18) you can see his fellow attacker Atdhe Nuhiu giving the bat a swing, connecting with the ball, before being caught by the bowler – but that didn’t stop him celebrating though, as you can tell from the picture below.
There’s plenty going on at Sheffield Wednesday at the moment, with manager Steve Bruce looking like he will be leaving the club very soon for Newcastle United, report The Telegraph.
The club has made a couple of signings this summer but will be hoping to add more depth to the squad, despite their ‘soft’ transfer embargo.
Lucas Joao has been at the club since 2015 and has scored 25 goals in 114 appearances for the Owls.
It’s good that the Wednesday players look to be having a fun time despite their manager being on the periphery of a new job.
There looks a strong team spirit within that changing room and one that should be able to carry on with the new manager. They have an experienced team which knows each other well, and can still go under the radar next year and make a push for the top 6.
They do need to appoint quickly though as it is a big stick in the mud for their pre-season preparations. The season starts in around three weeks and the new manager needs to meet the players and get across his methods and styles.
