Morgan Fox believes the return to fitness of Tom Lees will help Sheffield Wednesday in their quest to secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs, reports the Yorkshire Post.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side are currently sixth in the Championship table, just one-point clear of seventh placed Fulham, who have missed out on two opportunities to overtake the Owls in recent weeks.

Wednesday have recorded just one victory in their last six fixtures, a spell of games which centre-back, Lees, missed the majority of having picked up an injury against Bristol City in January.

Lees returned for Wednesday’s defeat to Reading last week, something Fox believes can only be positive, he said: “It was massive having him back.

“He’s a leader and he’s brilliant for us at the back. Sasso did well when he came in but having Leesy back is a big plus.”

Wednesday have kept just two clean sheets in Lees’ absence, something they will need to address heading into the Championship run-in.

Following this week’s international break, Carvalhal’s side face Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and Rotherham United within the space of four days, back-to-back fixtures, which could prove vital in the race for the Play-Offs.
