Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Steven Fletcher has admitted it is good to have his strike-partner Gary Hooper back from injury, as Sheffield Wednesday go in search of Play-Off glory.

Hooper has struggled throughout the Sky Bet Championship season with injury, but his return to fitness against Rotherham United earlier this month, has coincided with a run of five consecutive victories.

The recent run of form has lifted Carlos Carvalhal’s side to fifth in the Championship table, and now almost a certainty to finish inside the top-six for the second year running.

Fletcher was quick to praise Hooper, highlighting his attributes both on and off the pitch, he said: “Hoops is a great lad. It is his presence about the place and on the pitch.

“He holds the ball up and is strong and you don’t actually know how strong he is until you stand next to him. He can knock big guys off the ball and it is good we have got him back.”

Both Fletcher and Hooper were on the scoresheet for Wednesday in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Derby County, which moved the Owls five-points clear of seventh-placed Leeds United.

Carvalhal’s side can secure their place in the Play-Offs this weekend at Ipswich Town, if they better Leeds’ result against Norwich City.
