Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher has expressed his desire to end his career at the club.

The Wednesday frontman has started the season with a bang having helped the Owls to two wins from two.

The Scottish international scored a with a tidy finish against Yorkshire rivals Barnsley last Saturday, whilst performing excellently up top on his own at Reading the previous week.

The 32-year-old has decisions to make with the forward's contract coming to an end next summer. Fletcher has scored over 50 Premier League goals and will be hoping he can get another shot at the division with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls take on Millwall at the Den this Saturday and will be hoping that their excellent early season form can continue.

Speaking to the Star, Fletcher said: “I am settled in Sheffield, the family is settled, but it’s gone quite quick actually. It doesn’t feel like I have been here that long.

“I would love to stay here as long as I can, I am really enjoying it. The family is settled, my kids go to school in Sheffield.
“I have never been at a club, with my family, where I really felt settled. This is the first time.” The Verdict Fletcher has been a key part to Sheffield Wednesday's early season form. The striker has been effective going forward and his hold-up play has benefitted the players around him. However, it will be interesting to see whether a new manager coming in will affect the Scot's playing time. Having sold Lucas Joao in the summer, the Owls clearly see Fletcher as their first choice striker and that should encourage him to continue the way he has started. He's been injury free for a while now, so Fletcher seemingly feels settled. In his quotes he mentioned how well his family are currently doing, and that is a big thing for players. It looks like he'll be staying around Sheffield for a long-time but he must impress any potential new boss to ensure that he will be offered a new contract.
