Joey Pelupessy is feeling optimistic about next season after Wednesday's recent run of games.

The Dutch midfielder is yet to experience a full season with the club after joining in the January transfer window from Eredivisie side Heracles.

He has worked his way into the starting XI, although a severe injury crisis in his first few months at the club did give him plenty of opportunities to stake his claim.

However, he has kept his place after players such as Barry Bannan and Sam Hutchinson returned, so he will be an important player next season as the Owls aim to push for the play-offs and forget about this disappointing season.

This is what he had to say about Wednesday's recent form to the official site: "I've got a really good feeling about it, really positive feeling because in the last period we won a lot of games."

"If you see the whole period, we did very well."

"When the key players are back, we're playing better. Everybody has more confidence."

The Verdict

Pelupessy's verdict clearly reflects the performances on the pitch because there is a lot more trust in each other as a collective with key players returning which allows individuals to be ambitious and take risks.

It's good to see that Pelupessy seems to be enjoying the competition for positions now that players such as Barry Bannan have returned and is starting to form connections with them through time on the training pitch as well as in games.

These wins have come at a good time because they helped achieve the first aim of avoiding relegation, but also give the team confidence going into next season which should help them start the season strongly.
