Sheffield Wednesday right-back Liam Palmer has taken to Twitter to wish his employers well on the club’s 150th anniversary.

This tweet comes just one day the club confirmed, on their official Twitter account, that Sheffield Wednesday had broken a Guinness World Record for the largest cake ball, as a part of their preparations for the celebrations.

Palmer has hardly featured for the Owls this season in what has been a frustrating campaign so far.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side have drawn three of their opening five league games with their only Championship win so far this season coming away from home against Fulham.

The 25-year-old started 15 games in the league last season for Wednesday as the club finished fourth in the Championship table and qualified for the playoffs for the second season running.

The Owls didn’t make it as far as the final last season though, as they lost to eventual winners Huddersfield.

Come to the end of the current international break, which has seen a break in Premier League and Championship football, Wednesday will be hosting Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough.

Founded in 1867, Sheffield Wednesday are the fifth-oldest professional football club in England.
