The mood at Sheffield Wednesday is very tense following their latest Sky Bet Championship defeat.

Just days after going down 1-0 at home to Luton Town, The Owls made the short trip to Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United, and were resoundingly defeated 3-0 by the Millers.

Wednesday's ill-discipline was their downfall yet again, with Tom Lees' dismissal being the second game in a row a defender had departed the field early, following Joost van Aken's red card against Luton.

Owls fans clearly aren't happy with the ongoings at Hillsborough right now, from the decisions of manager Garry Monk to player performances on the field.

And when one fan decided to take a shot at Izzy Brown - on loan from Premier League giants Chelsea - the attacker decided to respond.

It came after Brown tweeted following the defeat to Luton urging Wednesday fans to get behind the team with 'positive energy'.

You don't tend to see professional footballers interact with fans in this kind of manner, so it's surprising to see Brown take a shot at this particular supporter.

The Verdict

You can understand the frustrations of Sheffield Wednesday fans right now, but is it really necessary to abuse and tag players like this person did?

Brown can't be faulted for trying to get the Owls fans onside and united once again, but it seems most players go into hiding when the going gets tough - not Izzy though.

The 23-year-old hasn't even been in the squad during their poor run of form, so if anyone should be absolved of criticism, it's him.

Let's hope the atmosphere amongst Wednesday fans doesn't get increasingly toxic because it's just not nice to see.
