Speaking to Sky Sports, Barry Bannan has insisted he remains confident Sheffield Wednesday will reach the Sky Bet Championship’s Play-Offs in May.

Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnsley on Saturday, which combined with Fulham’s victory over Rotherham United, saw Carlos Carvalhal’s side slip out of the top-six.

With just seven fixtures of the season remaining, Wednesday are now a point behind Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, and need a quick pick-up in results to put their promotion push back on track.

Carvalhal’s side have recorded just one victory in their last seven Championship fixtures, but despite their poor form, Bannan insists he has confidence in Wednesday to turn things around, he said:

"There are going to be ups and downs, but there are still a lot of points to play for.

“If we can play to the way we know we can, as a squad I have no doubt we'll be in the play-offs.”

Wednesday will be looking to break back into the top-six this evening, when they travel to Rotherham- who were relegated following Saturday’s defeat to Fulham.

Three points this evening will be vital, with Carvalhal’s side facing league leaders Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
