Sheffield Wednesday defender Jack Hunt has admitted that the players need to put in a strong performance for the fans on Saturday. The Owls lost to Bolton last time out, the first side that the Trotters have beaten this season, which inevitably angered a lot of supporters.

Finding a consistent run has been a real problem for Wednesday, and the Bolton defeat has increased the pressure on Carlos Carvalhal. He appears safe for now, with all the focus on Derby's upcoming visit to Hillsborough. Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Hunt was brutally honest with his assessment of the last performance and where the blame lies. “We are out there on the pitch, not him. We have to take responsibility. We owe a lot of people a result at the weekend.”

Even though there is a negative mood surrounding the club, they are only four points off the top six and Hunt knows the only way they can change things around. “Everyone is disappointed with how results have been going. We are going through a bad spell but everyone is pulling together, working hard and looking to turn things around quickly.”

The Verdict

The defeat at Bolton will have been a massive frustration for all involved at Wednesday. It was a huge missed opportunity, but they have to bounce back now. Jack Hunt is very honest with his verdict on the weekend and fans will appreciate that instead of trying to deflect the blame elsewhere. However, it's actions that will count. They set the benchmark with the victory against Leeds and need a similar performance against Derby.
