Sheffield Wednesday were left frustrated once again on Saturday, as they left The Hawthorns empty handed after a 2-1 defeat to West Brom.

The 2-1 defeat means that the Owls are now without a league win in their last four games, which will make for concerning reading for Monk and the club's supporters heading into the potentially season-defining festive period.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sat ninth in the Championship table, and will know that recent performances simply have to improve if they're to stand a chance in finishing inside the top-six by the end of this year's league campaign.

One player that hasn't covered himself in glory in recent weeks is Keiren Westwood. The goalkeeper has been a key player for the Owls for a number of seasons now, but hasn't been at his best in their last few league games, which has seen them slide down the table.

Westwood made a costly error against Swansea, and will feel as though he could have dealt with Hal Robson-Kanu's opener for the Baggies at the weekend.

The Irishman was caught out of position, which allowed Robson-Kanu to slot the ball between his legs to open the scoring on the day.

Westwood's below par performances could mean that Garry Monk has a potential selection dilemma on his hands heading into their next game against Birmingham City on Wednesday.

Cameron Dawson could be the player that is providing the Sheffield Wednesday boss with a selection headache, with the 24-year-old not doing much wrong when called upon this season.

Dawson put in an impressive performance against Stoke City earlier in this year's campaign, and had every right to feel somewhat hard done by when he was replaced by Westwood on his return to the side.

Dawson is out of contract in the summer of 2020, and will be keen to prove a point at the earliest of opportunities, and given that Westwood hasn't been at his best, now could be the perfect time for him to come back into the starting XI.

The hectic festive period is edging closer, and the shot-stopper will fancy his chances of nailing down a regular spot in the starting XI if he is to be given an opportunity to impress Garry Monk.

The 24-year-old has already been linked with a move to the likes of Derby County and Preston North End (according to The Star), so it's clear to see that he's got what it takes to be playing regularly at this level.

So, Dawson will surely be confident of being given a chance to impress in the starting XI in the near future, with Westwood struggling to replicate the impressive performances from last year's league campaign.
