Sheffield Wednesday have endured a dismal season so far, with new boss Darren Moore facing a real battle to keep the Owls in the Championship.
The former West Brom chief hasn’t made the impact he would’ve wanted in charge, having suffered three successive defeats, but most recognise the problems run deeper at Hillsborough right now.
Nevertheless, Moore won’t give up, and his only focus will be on trying to pick up three points against Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield tomorrow night.
Away from the game, it’s never quiet at Wednesday, and here we provide you with the latest news coming out of the club…
Danny Simpson emerges as transfer target
Even though the transfer window is shut, clubs can still do business with free agents, and the Sheffield Star have revealed that experienced right-back Simpson is a target for the Owls.
The former Premier League winner with Leicester is out of contract having left Huddersfield at the end of the previous campaign, but he is keeping fit by training with the Foxes.
Were each of these 20 former Sheffield Wednesday players left or right footed?
Portadown youngster is summer option
Planning for the summer window will already be underway at most clubs, and it’s no different at Wednesday.
Reports have claimed that the club are keeping tabs on highly-rated 21-year-old Luke Wilson from Northern Irish outfit Portadown. He is approaching the final year of his contract, so a summer move does seem inevitable for the midfielder.
Izzy Brown stars for U23 side
Since joining on loan from Chelsea, Brown has had a miserable time with Wednesday.
The attacking midfielder has struggled for starts, and when he has been on the pitch, he hasn’t really impressed.
However, the England youth international proved his quality with a goal for the U23s against Coventry City yesterday, and it could put him into the thinking of Moore for the huge game against the Terriers tomorrow.
