Jos Luhukay’s spell with Sheffield Wednesday has got off to a reasonable start, with the Dutchman overseeing two goalless draws in the Sky Bet Championship, as well as guiding the Owls through to the fourth-round of the FA Cup.

The FA Cup betting odds have Wednesday as slight favourites to go through against Reading on Friday, which would be a good achievement.

Most impressive has been Wednesday’s defensive effort, with the Owls yet to concede a goal under Luhukay. However, with that, there is concern, with the Dutchman yet to see a goal scored for his side in the Championship, which is beginning to become a major concern.

The Owls have a number of injury worries at this time, and here at FLW, we believe Luhukay needs to turn to the transfer window to address Wednesday’s attacking problems.

For us, a player the Owls need to look at is Tariqe Fosu, who has impressed for Charlton Athletic in League One this season, scoring seven goals and chipping in with a number of assists for Karl Robinson’s side, already improving the numbers he posted during the 2016/17 campaign.

Of course, the 22-year-old’s favoured position is on the wing, which is a position Luhukay has moved to abandon during his early days at Hillsborough, ditching 4-4-2 for a 3-5-2 formation, where wing-backs are used in the wide areas.

However, Wednesday are lacking something going forward, and the Dutchman will want to have options within his squad, particularly in attack.

The addition of a player like Fosu might not be a signing that lights up Hillsborough, but it could be a positive move for the Owls, with the 22-year-old capable of bringing another attacking outlet to Luhukay’s squad.

It has been a more than solid start to life at Hillsborough for Luhukay, but now is the time to take risks and a move for Fosu should be something the Owls put real consideration into.
