Sheffield Wednesday continue to buzz around the play-off zone in the Championship and after a 1-0 win over former league leaders Newcastle United on Boxing Day, they occupy sixth place going into the New Year.

Carlos Carvalhal has steadied the ship at Hillsborough and the Owls very much look like a side that could push for promotion come the end of the season, if they can keep the wins coming in.

They've won five of their last six games but at times, they've become a little unstuck against the teams in and around them in the table.

Defeats to fellow promotion chasers Reading, Derby and Brighton has seen their progress knocked back a little and some supporters feel that a couple of fresh faces in January could really do the trick as the season comes to a hectic conclusion.

And one way of bringing in bright talent is targeting youngsters from Premier League clubs, the individuals that need a break to impress their parent coaches.

So with that in mind, Carlos Carvalhal must try and sign at least 1 of these Premier League starlets this January...

Ola Adeyemo

The Owls have plenty of firepower in their striking ranks but with Steven Fletcher the only man seemingly hitting the back of the net in recent weeks, an addition to the forward line might not be such a bad shout in the slightest.

A good option would be Watford youngster Ola Adeyemo, who was brought to the club in the summer after a successful trial with the U21 side. He's failed to break into the first-team this season but according to Hornets supporters, he's frighteningly quick with a real eye for goal.

Even as an option from the bench, he could be worth a gamble.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a man that has seen plenty of media attention in recent weeks after some solid performances for Liverpool in the cup. But whilst he features in matters away from the league, he's still on the peripheral of Jurgen Klopp's Premier League squad who are aiming to win the title.

He might be a difficult player to bring in but in at right-back or even in midfield, the Englishman would give the Wednesday squad a real yard of pace and at times, excellent delivery into the box.

Josh Onomah

Spurs forward Josh Onomah is a player that is edging closer and closer to the first-team at White Hart Lane, but some supporters feel a loan spell might serve him best as he looks to really enter the senior squad next season.

He's a pacy young man who has played in behind the striker and on the wing but as first-team action goes, he's only made 25 appearances in four years and needs a little more game time.

He'd certainly get that with Wednesday, whilst providing Carvalhal with an option that at this level, could be pretty devastating indeed.
